DARIEN ROWAYTON BANK DONATES FUNDS TO DARIEN FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR A THERMAL IMAGING CAMERA

 

Jack Dowling presents a check to the Darien Fire Department that will go towards the purchase of a Thermal Imaging Camera that Lieutenant Malewicz is holding. Lieutenant Malewicz was part of the Ladder Replacement Committee that has been working on this project since 2007. Thermal imaging cameras can "see" through darkness or smoke, they allow firefighters to quickly find the seat of a structure fire, or see the heat signature of visually obscured victims. They can be used to search for victims outdoors on a cool night, spot smoldering fires inside a wall, or detect overheating electrical wiring. “This important piece of equipment will allow for expedited size up of fire conditions, uncovering hidden fires that may reignite a home and enhance the overall safety of the firefighters” says Jack Dowling.
