Darien Rowayton Bank Hosts Darien Artist Peter Saverine
Darien Rowayton Bank will host the artwork of local artist and writer Peter Saverine through Saturday, October 6th in their Darien branch located at 1001 Post Road. Autographed copies of his books will also be available.
Peter was born and raised in Darien, CT and has lived in Fairfield County for most of his life. A graduate of Amherst College with a BA in Political Science, he held several buying and management positions at Lord and Taylor in New York after which he returned to Fairfield County to pursue entrepreneurial sales and marketing pursuits. He is currently the Executive Director at the Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens, a 91-acre nature preserve and botanical garden in Stamford. He resides in Stamford and has four grown children.
Peter has been a member of the Greenwich Arts Society, Greenwich Arts Council, Fairfield Arts Council, Art Society of Old Greenwich, the Westport Arts Center and the Rowayton Arts Center. He began painting in 2002 and has studied at the Greenwich Art Society with Dennis Lyall and Dmitri Wright. His works have been shown at several juried shows in the area as well as at Greenwich Art to the Avenue, Southport Pequot Library, Fairfield Women’s Club, the Fairfield Gallery, the Old Greenwich Outdoor Art Show and the Darien Downtown Art Show. He has also been represented in several shops In Nantucket, Cape Cod, Watch Hill and Connecticut.
He authored and self-published a children’s picture book, entitled Jenny’s Pennies—A Nantucket Tradition, that has sold over 5000 copies and is in its third printing. A second book, A Little Mouse Music, was published in 2010 as a fundraiser for the First Church in Fairfield.
